'Anchoring Annalise.' 'All About Anna.' Heck, even the title of this very post. All of these A's, and one begins to wonder if I am overly drawn to the letter 'A.' Just a few days ago, I would have brushed this off as a harmless attraction (there's that 'a' again!) to the letter that begins my own first name. But for my first Intro to Psychology assignment, which was to read a couple of chapters from the textbook, I learned that some psychologists believe that there are unconscious influences that lead to certain decisions. For example, one's name, birth date, or even initials can lead them to make certain choices without their even realizing. Perhaps this seemingly random appeal to words starting with the letter 'a' isn't as random as it once appeared to be.
